Quotations
Quotes are free. A site visit is normally carried out within 7 days of your enquiry, and the finalised written quotation is sent to you the same day as that visit.
The written quotation sets out the work included. Anything not listed on it is not included in the price. Where additional work is identified once the job is underway, we will stop and agree it with you in writing before continuing.
Jobs within a 10-mile radius of our Oxted base are quoted at standard rates. Work outside that radius may carry an additional charge, which will be shown on the quotation.
Booking and access
Work is booked once you accept the written quotation. You are responsible for providing safe access to the site on the agreed day, including moving vehicles, unlocking gates and clearing garden furniture, pots and other items from the working area where practical.
Where access runs across a neighbouring property, or where branches overhang a boundary, it is your responsibility to obtain the neighbour's permission before the work date unless we have agreed otherwise in writing.
Tree Preservation Orders and conservation areas
Where a tree is covered by a Tree Preservation Order or sits within a conservation area, we will make the application to the council or estate on your behalf as part of the job.
No work covered by such an application will start until the necessary consent or notice period is complete. Council decision timescales are outside our control and may move the work date.
Weather and rescheduling
Climbing and aerial work is not carried out in high winds, lightning or other conditions that make it unsafe. Where weather prevents work going ahead, we will contact you and rebook at the earliest available date at no extra cost.
Waste, logs and woodchip
Unless the quotation says otherwise, arisings are chipped and removed as part of the job and the working area is cleared before we leave.
If you would like to keep material, logs are supplied at £100 per tonne bag and woodchip at £50 per truck load of up to 3 tonne.
Surveys
Basic tree inspections and surveys are charged from £50 per tree and are written up and sent to you following the inspection.
Insurance and qualifications
We hold £10,000,000 employers' liability insurance and £5,000,000 public and products liability insurance.
Chainsaw and climbing work is carried out under NPTC and City & Guilds certification covering maintenance and cross-cutting, felling up to 380mm, tree climbing and aerial rescue, and aerial cutting using free-fall techniques.
Guarantee
A guarantee is available on request. Ask when you book your site visit and the terms will be confirmed with your written quotation.
Payment
Payment is due on completion of the work against the invoice issued, at the figure set out in the accepted written quotation.
Complaints
If anything is not right, contact Jack Newton directly on 07375 701290 or at jack@newtonstreeservices.co.uk and we will put it right.
